On 11/08/2018, Law No. 13,731 was enacted, providing for funding mechanisms for urban tree planting and the recovery of degraded areas.
This Law provides that up to one tenth of the amount of fines for crimes, criminal offenses or administrative infractions arising from conduct and activities harmful to the environment, collected by the environmental agencies that make up the National Environmental System – SISNAMA, may be used to fund urban tree planting and the recovery of degraded areas.
These funds must be applied in the Municipality where the environmental infraction or crime occurred.
This Law still needs to be regulated.
