IBAMA Normative Instruction No. 18 of 08/10/2018 was published today in the Official Gazette of the Union, amending article 76 of Normative Instruction No. 6/2018 issued by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA), which regulated the procedures required for converting fines into services for the preservation, improvement and recovery of environmental quality.
The Normative Instruction extends the deadline for those fined by IBAMA before February 15, 2018 to express their interest in converting their fines, indicating whether they choose the direct or indirect modality.
The deadline, which would have ended on August 15, 2018, is extended by a further 60 days, ending on October 15, 2018.
